The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus has issued an official explanation of who and where needs the use of masks.

Wearing a mask is mandatory for all citizens aged 6 years and over in the following facilities/places:

– supermarkets/bakeries

– department stores / retail stores / shopping malls

– churches

– hospitals/clinics/ nursing homes/other medical facilities

– pharmacies

– organizations/departments of the public and wide public sector and private businesses that accept/service clients (e.g. banks, citizen service centres, post offices, electricity companies in Cyprus, etc.).

– betting shops

– elevators

In places that are not included in the list, you do not need to use a mask.

For those who ignore the “mask” regime there is a penalty of EUR 300. It is prescribed to a specific citizen, not to an enterprise or institution. Children under 6 years old do not need to wear masks.

The use of a mask is also obligatory for employees who serve customers in the following institutions
/places/enterprises:

– public transport (e.g. bus drivers),

– internal zones of private companies, departments of the public and the wider public sector that serve the public, such as Citizen Service Centres, post offices, couriers, places to pay utility bills of organizations (e.g. EAC, CYTA, local government, etc.),

– to the retailers:
supermarkets, bakeries, pharmacies, open markets, retail stores such as meat, fish, fruit, kiosks, mini-markets, retailers (e.g. clothing and footwear stores, cosmetics stores).

– delivery staff/distributors

– as a construction worker. They must use disposable masks when travelling by car (the number of people in the car must not exceed 2 people) and when using the elevator.

Also, in any enterprise or institution where the use of the mask is stipulated by the relevant Ministry of Health protocols.
