The winner of two Oscar Awards Tom Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson have officially become honorary citizens of Greece. This was written by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his Instagram. In the photo in a popular social network, the Prime Minister poses with his wife and a Hollywood couple holding Greek passports.

In late December last year, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos signed a decree on honorary citizenship of American actors.

Tom Hanks and his wife have always been fans of the country. In addition, Wilson has Greek roots in her mother’s line, and Tom Hanks accepted Orthodoxy in the Greek Orthodox Church shortly before his marriage to Rita. He is now a parishioner and trustee of St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Los Angeles.

The Hollywood couple has been spending the summer on the Greek island of Antiparos for many years. The couple built a house there – on 6 hectares they built a villa of 450 square meters.
