Do you want to feel a refreshing and aromatic cedar breeze on the tropical island of Cyprus? Then, you must head to the suburbs of Limassol, where you will find Suni, picturesquely located its sloping hills that are so pleasing to the eye. The charm and comfort of the microclimate are intoxicating, not only for the purity of the mountain air, but also for the general feeling of calm and peace.
In the coniferous surroundings of cozy cottages and villas, made in the traditional Cypriot style, you will soon discover an Eastern European pearl — A country spa house.
A separate comfort zone of the spa allows you to access all of its advantages allyear round. The impressive size of the plot allowed the architects of this project to almost double the area of the basin and to use the relief of the entire site in a unique way, by creating terraces.
On the first level, at the end of the pool, artificial waterfalls with illumination are featured, highlighting the contours of the coastal plants of the garden. The centre of the composition of the garden is an amphitheatre, formed by steps in the transition from the middle to the upper levels. The middle level is an expanded area, comfortably protected from the bright sun, but still accessing the fresh breeze, with an open gazebo-barbecue. The smell of spicy herbs and spices, planted around the arbour, envelops it with fragrances, carried by a light breeze.
A luxurious trim pool, with dark blue mosaic and gold stars, allows the pool water, in summer, to warm up to a comfortable temperature much faster than with a more traditional light blue. Designers took into account such an important fact for this area.
The crowning glory of this creation is a separatestanding hexagonal house on the top terrace, with panoramic sliding windows. The zest of the house is the hamam (Turkish bath), and not just a hamam, but a ‘‘hamam and his entourage’’. The environment holds a caressing view, divided into a sauna and relaxation room. The beauty of the surroundings encourages visitors to experience the complex at any time of the year. In the summer heat, the sliding windows open up to a rest room with a cool breeze. In the evenings, even in the hottest months, the idea of using a hamam is ideal. In the short cold season, this adaptive environment easily turns into a cozy and warm living room, with a fireplace that can be filled with the aroma of tea and coffee and tasted with pleasure after a hot embrace of a steam room on comfortable sofas.
The epicentre of the eastern house is a chandelier that is set in the Moroccan ideal of interior style. It floats in peach clouds of fabric, creating a sense of ceilingness and endless aspirations. The element of air is so blatantly obvious in this design that, imperceptibly, there is a desire to feel liberated, surrounded by the elements of fire. With reference to the fireplace, the front panel was stylized with a steelcarved figured grid, with hidden illumination, all in a similar oriental style. Framed by the marbletiled, handpainted fireplace, in combination with the flames of burning firewood, the overall impression is stunning. In the evenings, its mysterious yellow glow is perfectly visible from all points of the garden and pool.
The sacraments of the eastern fairytales are expressively manifested in the furniture and accessories. The brightest and most attractive of them are made by hand. Tables are madetoorder in Morocco and are covered with chaste sheets of nickel silver, with an authentic pattern of embossing. A vase with handmade ornaments reigns, surrounded by glass patterned bowls for candles. The wavering flames of the candles turn them into magical lamps reminiscent of eastern palaces.
Luxury sofas and armchairs (brand Nube Italia) effectively complement the atmosphere and beckon guests with a coziness, which one does not want to leave, especially on a wintry, rainy evening
The third element — the element of water — is hidden behind the arched door to the left of the fireplace. The threshold of the hamam amazes the imagination with an authentic bench and a chest of drawers from local antique shops; all made with the same oriental shade. Unique lighting fixtures can be found here, as well as in the rest room and in the arbourbarbecue. They were ordered and delivered exclusively for this project. Ceramic decorative sanitary ware elements and decor can also be appreciated, with impressive shells (reminiscent of a water lily opening up, with bronze stems), showers and taps. The mosaic covering of the inner surface of the hamam room and the ceramic tiles of the vestibule are made according to the original sketches of the designers, and, like many other elements of this project, are impeccable. Careful attention to the design and selection of interior details allowed the architects of this project to create a unique mood and colour for the entire spa complex, combining, in it, the three key elements: Air, fire and water.
