The schedule at public schools will be changed to avoid traffic jams

On Monday, September 14, pupils of public schools of the Republic of Cyprus sat down again at the desks after a long break. According to statistics, it is 107 557 students this year.

Before and after school hours, roads in areas where schools are located were literally paralyzed by a large number of cars.

In this regard, Cyprus Education Minister Prodromos Prodromou said in his speech on RIK Radio that he was ready to discuss with teachers’ unions and the parents’ association the issue of changing the school’s working hours.

The Minister is sure that if the lessons start at different times, the situation with traffic jams will be solved. “We are able to adapt the schools’ work to avoid inconveniences,” he emphasized.

The issue of abandoning a single work schedule of public schools was already discussed in May 2020, after the schools reopened after quarantine.
