Two people from Israel (Category C country) who traveled on a yacht to the Limassol Marina were detained by the police because, instead of enforcing the mandatory self-isolation, they moved freely around the city and visited public places.
They face trial and a fine, as self-isolation is mandatory for all citizens coming to Cyprus from Category C countries, both Cypriots and permanent residents.
In the last 24 hours, several establishments, as well as individuals in Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca and Paphos, have been fined for violating the anticovid measures.
In Limassol, 16 people were fined for not maintaining the necessary distance and for not wearing masks in three bars and cafes.
Nine establishments were fined 500 euros and one was fined 750 euros.
Seven people in Nicosia were fined €500 and €300 for not having masks.
In Larnaca, a tavern was fined 1000 euros, again due to the lack of masks for the staff, in Paphos two people were fined 500 euros each for the same reason, while in the area of Famagusta one of the establishments will have to pay a fine of 300 euros.
