The lack of a unified strategy to promote Cyprus as a popular and diverse resort has long been a concern for many since tourism is a key income for citizens and the state.
The Ministry of Tourism of Cyprus has decided to seriously engage in promoting the island and achieve its inclusion in the Top 30 most competitive destinations in the world.
Judging by the concept, the Ministry plans to develop tourism in areas that have not previously been given attention, such as Pomos, Neo Horio and Polis with the villages of Androlikou, Katikas, Kritou Terra, etc.
The idea is to bring them together and create a single brand that will be used to attract foreign tourists.
Judging by the tender documents, all districts will get a single name, which will be promoted. There are already several options, such as “Cyprus Riviera”, “Riviera Aphrodite” or “Akamas Riviera”.
So far, each locality has promoted itself independently.
According to the Deputy Minister of Tourism, thanks to a single promotion and modernization, the tourist flow can be significantly increased, for example, in Akamas. And this will create additional conditions for the development of the area.
He noted that the areas can receive a good income from eco-tourism, agro-tourism, as well as from health tourism.
So far, the work on the implementation of this project is at the stage of research.
According to tender documents, the study is divided into three stages:
The first stage includes a review of the current situation, which will take 4 months, then, at the second stage (2-3 months) will be prepared recommendations to improve the quality of infrastructure in the district.
A step-by-step action plan will be presented in the third stage, which will take 9 months.
