The first day of the summit in Brussels of EU leaders was very busy.
⠀
This time they managed to persuade Cyprus to change its position and agree on sanctions against Belarus.
⠀
Cyprus has lifted its veto on sanctions against Belarus in exchange for the EU’s response to Turkey because of its illegal activities in the Eastern Mediterranean.
⠀
“Tomorrow, sanctions against Belarus will be fixed by law,” said the chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel.
⠀
But so far President Lukashenko has not been included in the list of 40 Belarusian officials, whose assets in the EU are frozen, and entry into the EU countries is prohibited.
