Today Italian composer, arranger and orchestra conductor Ennio Morricone died at the age of 91. This was written by la Repubblica on Monday 6 July.
The cause of death was complications from the fall. He died in a hospital in Rome.
Morricone became famous as an author of music for cinema and television. He wrote music for over 400 films and television series.
“The best music in cinema is the music you hear. Music that you can’t hear is not good for a movie, no matter how good it is”. These are the words of a composer whose melodies were becoming almost more popular than cult paintings where they sounded.
In 2007, Morricone won an Oscar for his contribution to cinema, and in 2016 he was awarded an Oscar for his soundtrack to the “Disgusting Eight”.
