An investigation into the abuse of a three-year-old girl is ongoing in Limassol – the suspects are the baby’s father and allegedly a priest, SigmaLive reports.
The child is believed to have been molested in October this year. When the girl started behaving strangely, her mother took her to a paediatrician, who referred them for additional examinations at the hospital. There, in the presence of a medical expert and another pediatrician it was found that the child had been sexually abused.
Although the case was properly identified, two of the alleged perpetrators had not yet been summoned for questioning. It should be noted that the priest who was allegedly involved in the case was sent on leave by his superiors. As later commented in the Limassol diocese, the priest had nothing to do with the abuse of the child.
The question of the suspension of the father from raising his daughter is being resolved. The special police department for domestic violence cases is awaiting the completion of the investigation and processing of criminal case files. It should be noted that the police treat such cases with due care due to their special sensitivity.
