Pupils go out to protest in Kalo Chorio

Pupils at the elementary school in Kalo Chorio missed 2 hours of classes on Tuesday to protest against the reduction of teaching hours in the first and second grades.

Together with their parents, the pupils held posters that read “We have equal rights to education” and “Don’t deny us the right to knowledge”.

The problem arose in connection with the implementation of a decree according to which 11 second grade pupils will now study in the same class with five first grade pupils.

Last week the school association of parents sent a protest to the Department of Primary Education, which expressed its dissatisfaction with the fact that schools in rural areas are considered secondary.

After the authorities assured that the problem will be resolved soon, parents and students stopped the protest.
