The Asian Development Bank (ADB) estimates the damage to the global economy from the coronavirus pandemic at US$4.1 trillion, which is equivalent to 5% of global GDP. A shorter escalation period could reduce damage to US$2 trillion, or 2.3% of global GDP, the ADB report on economic forecasts says. Developing countries in Asia, including China, account for nearly 36% of the total costs caused by the pandemic.
