The Island Statistics Service has published official data for June 2020. According to the figures, only 9,119 tourists were able to visit the island in the first month of summer. This is 98.2% less than the same period a year ago. In June 2019, 509,662 people visited Cyprus.
From January to June 2020, only 255,675 tourists arrived in Cyprus against 1,631,023 in the first half of 2019. This is 84.3% less than a year ago.
Geography
The number of tourists coming from Greece decreased by 75.8%, from Germany by 93.1%, 93.0% less were tourists from Switzerland and 91.1% from Austria.
Purpose of the visit
For 42.6% of tourists, the purpose of their trip to Cyprus in June 2020 was a vacation, for 28.0% – visits to friends and relatives and for 29.4% – business.
The statistics for June 2020 were obtained after processing the electronic data of “Cyprus Flight Pass”.
