In Paphos, an employee of the distribution center of the local general hospital was arrested for a major theft, from where medicines were sent to its departments. The total amount of damage was 60,000 euros.
The man became suspicious when the center discovered that 275 euros worth of medicines were missing. He was forced to write an explanatory letter and was released to wait for a trial – but later it turned out that the loss was not the first one, and the damage to the center totalled 60,000 euros. The employees were re-arrested last weekend, and a large shipment of stolen medicines was found during a search of his house.
The police report that the detainee is waiting to be charged with newly discovered circumstances. It is not specified why he needed the medication.
