The top ten highest paid tennis players in the world were Naomi Osaka, 22, from Japan. She earned $37.4 million for the year, of which $3.4 million was won as prizes, while the remaining $34 million came from sponsorship contracts.
In addition to her, eight other tennis players and one footballer were added to the list. Not a single Russian athlete is on the list.
It’s not the first year that tennis players have been at the top of world rankings, assessing athletes’ income and the main part of their profits is formed by royalties from advertising of world brands.

Her annual income amounted to $8.9 million, of which salaries and prizes – $4.9 million, and advertising – $4 million.
6. Spanish tennis player Garbine Muguruza earned $6.6m in 2019, of which salaries and prizes were $2.1m. Advertising brought her $4.5m.
7. Tennis player Elina Svitolina from Ukraine
In 2019, she made $6.4mn. Of this amount, $5.4mn were salaries and prizes, and advertising contracts added another $1mn.
8. Sofia Kenin, a tennis player from the US.
Last year she received $5.8 million, of which salaries and prizes amounted to $4.8 million. The girl was able to earn $1 million from advertising.
9. German tennis player Angelique Kerber.
She earned $5.3 million during the year, of which her salary and prizes amounted to $1.3 million. The advertising contracts brought her an additional $4 million.
10. Footballer Alex Morgan from the United States.
The total revenue for last year was $4.6 million. Of that, salaries and prizes were $400,000, and advertising contracts brought it $4.2 million.
