In Cyprus, the first international sperm and egg bank was launched – the Danish company Cryos International, the owner of the largest donor base according to the Guinness Book of Records, officially announced the start of work in the country.
The Cyprus Ministry of Health allowed Cryos to donate sperm and eggs, as well as to purchase, test, process, store, distribute, import and export biomaterials. It is stated that the clinic in Nicosia meets all quality and safety standards recommended both by local regulations and EU directives.
“Cyprus was chosen not only because it has the necessary infrastructure, but also because of its geographical location: it connects East and West. We hope to be able to attract foreign patients to the country and make Cyprus a “harbor of fertility” for families in need of treatment and assisted reproductive medicine,” said Saghar Kasiri, Head of Cryos International Europe.
