Cyprus will hold the world’s first online conference about “Moon Village”

On November 9 and 10, another seminar and symposium of the international project Global Moon Village (Moon Village) will be held on the basis of the capital of Cyprus – this time for the first time in online format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organizers expect to gather a large audience from all over the world, representing specialized and non-core companies, space agencies, international organizations, researchers and the general public.

The permanent international lunar base project, called Moon Village, first made headlines back in 2015 when the newly appointed CEO of ESA, Johann-Dietrich Werner, told the BBC about it. “The Moon Village is not just a few houses, a church and a town hall,” he said then. – It should mean partners from around the world who contribute to the community through robots and astronaut missions and support communication satellites.

The program of the event includes a discussion of the growth of the Moon Village community, its activities, current and planned space programs of different countries that are relevant to the study and exploration of the Moon. Heads of the largest space agencies of the world – Head of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, Director General of the European Space Agency, senior employee of NASA, their colleagues from China, India, Japan, etc. – will speak at the conference.

Participation in the conference is free of charge. For registration and more detailed information, the organizers offer to visit mva2020.cseo.org.cy.
