Today Eurostat published updated statistical data. They show that the total exports of Cyprus in the first 7 months of 2020 amounted to 1.7 billion euros, which is 11% less compared to the same period in 2019 (0.5 billion euros in the EU, or 42% lower) and 1.2 billion euros to the rest of the world or + 18%).

Total imports decreased by 4.3 billion Euros, or -11% (by 2.5 billion Euros from the EU, or -11%, and by 1.7 billion Euros from the rest of the world, or -12%).

As a result, Cyprus recorded a trade deficit of €2.6 billion compared to €2.9 billion over the same period last year (€2.0 billion from the EU and €0.5 billion from the rest of the world).

From January to July 2020, exports of goods from the euro zone to the rest of the world fell to 1,199.6 billion euros (a 12.4 percent decline from January to July 2019).

Imports into the euro zone fell to 1,086.6 billion euros (a decrease of 13.1 percent from January to July 2019).

As a result, the euro zone recorded a surplus of 113.0 billion euros compared to +119.3 billion euros in January – July 2019.

Trade within the eurozone fell to €1021.8 billion in January-July 2020, down 13.0% from January-July 2019.

From January to July 2020, exports of goods outside the EU fell to 1,089.7 billion euros (a 12.2 percent decline from January to July 2019).

Imports outside the EU fell to 990.0 billion euros (a decrease of 13.1% compared with January – July 2019).

As a result, the EU recorded a surplus of 99.7 billion euros compared to plus 101.8 billion euros in January – July 2019.

Trade within the EU fell to 1599.5 billion euros in January – July 2020, which is 11.9% more than in January – July 2019.
