Cyprus authorities will rent a large housing complex for refugees
The Cypriot Cabinet of Ministers agreed on the initiative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to immediately rent a large residential complex, where it will be possible to accommodate a large number of illegal migrants.
The authorities state that the problem of illegal migration, including from the Turk-occupied north of Cyprus, is becoming more and more acute. At present the existing temporary accommodation centers for refugees – mainly from Syria – are already overcrowded.
It is expected that the first candidates for political refugees will be able to move into the building rented for these needs already on December 10.
