Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar will hold their first informal meeting on November 3. It will be held under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar at the residence of the Head of Mission.
Recall that Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when Turkey invaded the island and occupied its northern part. The last round of negotiations in July 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana ended without results.
