Cypriot authorities have changed their mind about returning high school students to school from 8 March

Cyprus gymnasium students have changed their minds about returning to school on March 8 – the Ministry of Education, in consultation with the Ministry of Health, decided not to rush and changed the date to the 16th. In addition, rapid tests for COVID-19 will be made mandatory for students, CNA reported.

Students from government (grammar schools and lyceums), private and technical schools will not be able to attend classes without a negative result of rapid test for coronavirus. Previously, the measure was only advisory in nature. The test will be valid for a week, after which it will be necessary to “retake” it.

Pupils of lyceums and technical schools, who were released from “remote” classes today, have to take the tests during this week – till March 7. From March 8, they will need a coronavirus certificate to get into classes.
Gymnasium students should return to classes mid-month already in possession of such a document.

Teenagers who do not have a valid certificate or who cannot attend school for any other reason will have to study remotely.
