Today’s scheduled meeting of the Cypriot Cabinet of Ministers was canceled, as the Minister of Agriculture Costas Cadiz confirmed the coronavirus, reports CNA. Now all his colleagues will have to undergo testing for COVID-19, and the close contacts of the diseased preventively went to isolation.
The night before, Cadiz tweeted that he had been diagnosed with COVID-19, self-isolated and continued to perform his duties from home. As a result, the Cabinet meeting was canceled, and all members of the Council of Ministers will have to pass tests for coronavirus. Interior Minister Nikos Nouris and Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos, who were in close contact with Cadiz, also chose to go for self-isolation – both reported in social networks.
The official representative of the government, Kyriakos Koushos, explained that if no one but Cadiz finds a positive result on COVID-19, the Cabinet will meet as usual, but if other ministers are also infected, they will have to hold meetings by teleconference.
