Today, the Chinese Foreign Ministry claimed that the Chinese state does not intend to interfere with elections in the United States. This was reported today by the agency Reuters.
The Chinese authorities denied the information about the intervention against the background of scandalous statements of the former Assistant to the President for National Security John Bolton. In his book, Bolton wrote that President Donald Trump asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to help him win the 2020 elections by concluding trade agreements with him.
The Wall Street Journal has published excerpts from the book. It is clear from them that Trump made such a request at the summit in Japan in summer 2019. As Bolton writes, the American leader raised the issue of the upcoming U.S. presidential election, citing China’s economic opportunities and “begging” the Chinese leader to secure his victory.
“He stressed the importance of farmers and increased Chinese soybean and wheat purchases for the election results,” Bolton wrote. He added that he would have quoted the “exact words” of the American president, but he was not allowed to do so.
Earlier it was reported that the U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against former Assistant President for National Security John Bolton in connection with the forthcoming publication of his memoirs “The Room where it Happened: Memories of the White House” because it is believed that the memoirs contain classified information.
Trump retired Bolton in September last year. The president explained it as “serious mistakes” made by the advisor. In November, it became known about Bolton’s plans to write a two-million-dollar memoir.
We would like to remind you that the presidential election in the USA is scheduled for November 3, 2020. They may elect the 46th President of the United States if Donald Trump is not re-elected for a second term.
