Armenia is not ready to conclude a peace agreement with Azerbaijan at the expense of its national interests.
Armenia is ready to settle the conflict peacefully with Azerbaijan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a press conference today, September 30.
Pashinyan said that Armenia and Karabakh are not ready to solve the territorial issue to the detriment of their national interests and security.
“I have already had an occasion to say that we need conditions and atmosphere for negotiations. Armenia has always been ready for a peaceful settlement,” Pashinyan said and added that Armenia can recognize Karabakh’s independence.
“There is also an option of signing an agreement on strategic cooperation between Armenia and Karabakh on our agenda, and there is a possibility of signing an agreement on cooperation in the security and defense spheres,” the Prime Minister added.
Pashinyan also noted that Armenia has no intention to apply to the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Referring to the fact that the country can still provide security by its own forces.
