The names of four people who are under quarantine but are not answering medical calls have been referred to the police. This was reported by Philenews yesterday.
The decision to report to the police was taken at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus after a high-profile case of an infected woman, who came to the island from the U.S. and did not comply with quarantine. She is believed to have infected a large number of people she had come into contact with. She is now under home surveillance.
Yesterday, Justice Secretary Emily Yiolitis warned that the police would now search people who came from Category C countries or had contact with those affected by coronavirus.
In the past three days, the police have conducted more than 3,500 COVID-19 inspections.
Deputy Police Spokesman Stelios Stylianou told Philenews that there were 83 registered complaints against businesses, mostly for not using masks.
In two cases, fines amounted to €8,000 and €4,000.
