In Cyprus, there is an amazing place – the antigravity hill. It is located on the west coast of Cyprus, halfway between Paphos and Polis, near the village of Drouseia.
To get to this place, you need to get off the highway where there is a branch towards Polis.
Anti-gravity hill (also known as magnetic hill) is a place where the terrain creates an optical illusion, thanks to the descent looks like an ascent. For example, a ball rolling downhill looks like it’s going up to the top of the hill, and the poured water will flow up rather than down.
The hillside rising is nothing but an optical illusion, but such places are usually surrounded by a heap of legends, and there are people who believe in mysterious magnetic fields or even some paranormal phenomena.
The only thing that explains it is the special landscape of the area where you can’t see the horizon.
When we can’t see the horizon line, we can’t judge whether the terrain is elevated or lowland, down or up, because all these concepts are relative and only make sense compared to the horizon.
In addition, objects that are “default” perpendicular to the ground (e.g. trees, reference poles, etc.) may actually be at an angle to the ground surface, shifting the visual reference point and distorting the perception. Check this video here
There are many such places in the world. They attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. There are also anti-gravity hills in Greece, Armenia, Germany, Brazil, Australia, South Korea, the USA and other countries.
