A virtual dispute about politics led a Limassol man to a real hospital bed
The night before, a 36-year-old man was taken to Limassol Central Hospital with multiple bruises and head trauma. According to CNA, the man suffered from a political disagreement that went from online to offline.
The man had started a discussion with a 35-year old user on Facebook about the right-wing ELAM movement’s support of the 2021 draft state budget for Cyprus. The opponents then became cramped online and scheduled a meeting in Kolossi to discuss the disagreement in person. Both showed up there with friends. The argument soon escalated into a fight in which the 36-year-old man was seriously injured.
The victim is being treated and his 35-year-old opponent is wanted. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
