A double murder occurred in the village of Ergates near Nicosia this morning – police are looking for a 58-year-old local man who attacked his household with a knife, reports AlphaNews.

According to police, the head of the household stabbed his 52-year-old wife and 21-year-old son to death. He also stabbed his second son, but only wounded him. The boy was taken to a hospital, and now his life is out of danger. The murderer was frightened away by his wife’s sister who ran to the screams from a neighboring house – the man fled from the scene of the crime and the law enforcement authorities are looking for him.

According to the head of the village council, nothing foretold the tragedy – the family lived quietly and was in good standing with the neighbors.
