Six migrants had a debauch the day before at the reception center in the village of Kofinou (Larnaca) – they had a coronavirus and wanted to send them to another facility for isolation, but the men were against it.
Among the approximately 280 people accommodated in the center, 16 were identified whose samples for coronavirus were positive. These men decided to be moved to the Eden Resort rehabilitation center in Tersefanou in order to be properly isolated from the healthy ones. Ten people agreed with this need, but the other six resisted. The center staff called the police to deal with the mutinous refugees who had begun to destroy the premises.
Some of them were armed with sharp objects such as knives and sticks for food. One attempted to stab a policeman but was saved from injury by a colleague.
As a result, 14 people were sent to Eden Resort as planned, and two were admitted to Famagusta General Hospital, which now works as a specialized hospital.
