Flu vaccines have not yet been delivered to Cyprus due to high global demand

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus has not yet received the first batch of 180,000 flu vaccines, although it was due to arrive on the island before early September.

This was reported by Philenews on Tuesday, September 15. According to their information, the delay is due to high demand for the vaccine worldwide and therefore the first batch of influenza vaccines is likely to arrive in Cyprus before mid-October.

As long as this situation does not change vaccination plans, the well established September’s consistently hot weather allows for this delay.

More extensive flu vaccination is planned this year by medical professionals to reduce the strain on Cyprus’ already overstretched health system due to Covid-19.

In addition to influenza vaccines, Cyprus also expects the arrival of 1.2 million coronavirus vaccines.
