Chinese Huawei for the first time became the world leader in smartphone sales, overtaking the permanent leaders of the last 9 years – South Korean Samsung and American Apple.
This was reported by the analytical company Canalys. In a report published July 30, Huawei in April-June 2020 sold 55.8 million smartphones. This is 5% less than a year ago. At the same time, Samsung sales fell by 30% due to the coronavirus pandemic, to 53.7 million smartphones.
More than 70 percent of Huawei smartphone sales come from the Chinese market. At the same time, the company takes only the third place in Europe, after Samsung and Apple.
Canalys analysts are convinced that the leadership position in the Chinese market alone “is not enough to hold its position when the world economy begins to recover”.
