DCMJ, a nongovernmental organization advocating the legalization of marijuana in the United States, has organized a “joint” distribution in New York and Washington for those who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, RIA Novosti reports.

Nicholas Schiller, one of the organisers of the campaign and the founders of DCMJ, said the action was a way to encourage people to get vaccinated if they are hesitant to do so. He added that the specific vaccine does not matter – even if a person brings a certificate that they have been vaccinated with Sputnik V, they will also be given a self-cooked cannabis roll.
According to Schiller, more than 4 000 people took part in the action during the day – but not everyone got the cherished “joint” – some tried to claim a dose of “jolly parsley” on the basis of a certificate of antibodies.

The campaign also had its detractors. “I am a smoker myself, but I don’t think marijuana should be used as propaganda. Many people use it for medical purposes. It is not something to be taken so lightly,” they explained.
