Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Cyprus, 21,771 fines have been issued for violations of Ministry of Health decrees – with only 9,500 receipts paid, CNA reports.
Fines were imposed mainly for non-compliance with curfew, violation of restrictions on movement during lockdown, not wearing masks or not wearing them properly. Since February 8, the list of reasons was extended to the lack of express tests for employees of private companies.
Recall that the extrajudicial fine for violations of the decrees of the Ministry of Health is 300 euros. It must be paid within a month – otherwise the case goes to court.
