The Cypriot Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy collected and analyzed the first data on the use of SMS authorization system during the second lockdown in the country. It turns out that Cypriots spend the limit of two messages per day primarily for shopping and sports.
In the two days since the lockdown began, 875,208 messages were sent to 8998, including 472,651 on Sunday and 402,557 on Monday. Of the eight possible reasons for leaving home, two were the most popular.
The most frequent choice was reason #2: to go to the store to buy basic goods or services, including carry-out). This line received 137,945 sms on Sunday and 125,364 on Monday.
In second place is reason #6: to leave home to exercise and sport in allowed places – 122,639 messages were sent on Sunday and 85,128 on Monday.
