The number of registered unemployed in November this year increased by 34.6% compared to the same month in 2019 – Cyprus Statistical Service reports that it reached 32 968 people (+8473 to last November).
The changes are primarily due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The largest increase in unemployment was recorded in the trade sector (+2142 people); among new entrants to the labour market, the unemployment rate increased by 866 people, among professional scientific and technical staff by 747 people; in construction, the unemployment rate increased by 690 people, in manufacturing by 629 people and in education by 611 people.
Compared to October 2020, the number of registered unemployed increased by 1481 people or 4.7%.
